Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier Mini: What is it?
From wraps to slings, tiny babies have been carried close to their parents for centuries, keeping them safe as they go about their daily lives. Baby Carrier Mini does exactly that, but with the benefits of modern design, it’s easy to use, and your baby can be slipped into the carrier and ready to go in just seconds.

Available in three different materials – woven for a rich finish, 3D Mesh for softness with ultimate breathability, and 3D Jersey for a stretchy, velvet feel – the Baby Carrier Mini can be matched to your particular needs. All of the materials have a high-quality feel and finish, ensuring that the baby is cossetted in comfort. It’s also lightweight and foldable, making it easier to stash in a changing bag than more structured rivals.
Suitable from birth to about 12 months (or 11kg, whichever comes first), Baby Carrier Mini provides plenty of support for tiny hips, backs and necks. Once the baby has more core strength and head control at around 5 months old, the carrier can be used in an outward-facing position, giving your little passenger a better view of the world.
Is it easy to use and adjust?
One of the lovely things about the Baby Carrier Mini is that all the key adjustment points that make it comfortable for both the wearer and the baby move with relative ease. There is no fighting with straps to get them to shift or fiddling with catches to get them to release. The shoulder straps cross neatly at the back before tightening at the sides. A sharp tug on the strap tightens it; to loosen again, simply lift the plastic holder to release the pressure, then pull the strap back.

The most troublesome adjustment is the carrier’s main body, where the baby sits. It takes a little wiggling to lengthen the body to accommodate your growing baby, but while it might be a little frustrating, you wouldn’t want it to be able to work its way loose with the baby on board.

Once the straps are set for you, putting the baby into the carrier is equally as easy. The best method I found for doing it solo is to attach one side of the carrier’s front by slipping the coloured catch into place, then lift the baby in before sliding the second catch into place.
Is it comfortable to wear?
The choices Baby Bjorn has made for the carrier mean that the baby is cocooned in a soft fabric with no harsh edges to contend with. The straps are nicely padded for the wearer, too, giving the best possible experience with each use.
The only minor gripe is that as the baby grows and gains weight, all the strain is carried across the shoulders, as there isn’t a waist belt to distribute it more evenly. The carrier’s limitations mean the maximum weight is 11kg, but those with a smaller frame may notice shoulder strain during longer carries as their baby grows.
Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier Mini: The verdict
While testing the Baby Carrier Mini, I found there was very little to dislike. The simple Swedish design is both stylish and easy to use, and with a good choice of colours, it will have wide appeal.

The 12-month lifespan might be off-putting for some, but having a carrier specifically for smaller babies, rather than trying to cater for a wider age group, makes this carrier more tailored and comfortable for tiny tots.
This carrier is all about having the right product for the job, and for parents wanting a straightforward, comfortable newborn carrier, the Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier Mini is an excellent choice.
