As every parent knows, day-to-day life can be cluttered with paraphernalia that is outgrown or obsolete in the blink of an eye. Find items that are practical and built to last, and you’re onto a winner. I tested the Cybex Click and Fold 4-in-1 highchair, which claims to be suitable from birth to 99 years of age, to see whether it lived up to its potential.
Pros
+ Excellent quality and well built
+ Grows with the child giving it longevity
+ Looks super stylish
Cons
– Straps on baby bouncer are difficult to release
– Reasonably high price point
Cybex Click and Fold 4-in-1: What is it?
The Click and Fold highchair from Cybex is a premium product designed to grow with your child from birth through to adulthood. Cybex Gold Lemo baby bouncer forms part of the 4-in-1 setup, and when used with the head hugger and newborn inlay, is suitable from birth. The bouncer can be used at floor level when attached to the stand or fitted to the Click and Fold highchair frame. The frame raises the baby to around waist height, which is ideal for mums recovering from a C-section, as it reduces the need to bend or lean down to pick up the baby, keeping it within easy reach.

From around six months, it’ll be time to move on to the highchair element to start weaning. With the baby seat in place, the tray slides and clicks firmly on, providing an easy-to-clean surface that toddlers can smear with food to their heart’s content. There are no nooks and crannies for food to become lodged in on the tray itself, so you can put fruits, veggies and snacks straight onto the wipe-clean surface with full peace of mind.

For those little ones who want to be a little closer to the family action, click off the tray and pull the highchair up to the table, where it will sit neatly, allowing them to use the table surface instead.
The final stage removes the baby seat and tray, leaving the flat wooden seat and footrest, which can be adjusted to different heights, providing ample flexibility.
How easy is it to use?
When the Click and Fold arrives, it does need to be assembled, but that isn’t a difficult task. The image-based instructions are reasonably clear, and you only need an Allen key, which is included.
A slight downside is that when transitioning the highchair from stage to stage, you’ll need the Allen key as the bolts have to be loosened to change the positioning. If you’re a DIY person and have a set in the shed or garage, that’s no problem. If you aren’t, make sure you stash the key somewhere you can find it.
With the right tool in hand, it only takes a few minutes to switch up the Click and Fold to the mode you need, and once everything is tightened, you’re good to go.
Cybex Click and Fold 4-in-1: What about practicality?
Unlike many traditional highchairs, the Cybex Click and Fold 4-in-1 features a modern, sleek aesthetic that blends into a dining room rather than standing out. The wooden frame, seat, backrest and footrest are beautifully finished, and the baby seat and tray are moulded plastic, making every part easy to clean with a damp cloth, no matter how messy the occupant gets.
The Lemo baby bouncer feels soft and well-padded, ensuring maximum comfort and snugness for newborns. As the child grows, the liner can be removed to give extra room in the bouncer.
Getting the baby in and out of the bouncer was more difficult than I might have expected, as it was hampered by the lack of easy-release shoulder straps, which was a bit of a surprise. In order to remove the shoulder straps, the oval plastic piece at the end of each strap has to be fed through a tight slit in the triangular padding, which is very fiddly and not at all easy to do in a hurry.

The waist straps are very quick and easy to release with the press of a button, which does lead me to wonder why both sets of straps aren’t quick-release. It feels like a needless oversight on an otherwise excellent bouncer.
There’s no denying that Click and Fold looks great, but once out of the bouncer stage, adding cushioned softness and harnesses to keep squirming bodies in place comfortably are optional extras that ring in at a further £85, which is a little disappointing.
Cybex Click and Fold 4-in-1: The verdict
I’ve tested a number of Cybex products and have always found them to be well-made and thoughtfully designed. Click and Fold is more than just a kids’ highchair; it’s a piece of furniture that seamlessly blends into your home, growing with your child and taking everything they can throw at it with ease.

There are small issues that work against it, though. The difficult-to-release shoulder straps on the baby bouncer could be problematic if you need to get the baby out quickly, and the lack of included straps for the baby seat is slightly frustrating, given the price.
Niggles aside, the Cybex Click and Fold 4-in-1 is a seating system with longevity that extends beyond the toddler phase, folding neatly and storing away when not in use. Is it perfect? No, but very few products can claim that accolade. Will it do what you need it to and look fabulous in your home? Yes, it absolutely will.
