Finding the perfect Mother’s Day gifts can be tricky. Do you go for the more traditional flowers and chocolates, or something a little more inventive? We’ve put together a handful of ideas, from budget to boujee, that we think most mums will love.

Charbonnel et Walker Connoisseur Fine Truffle Collection
£45

There are chocolates, and there are chocolates worthy of Mother’s Day gifts. This Charbonnel et Walker heart-shaped box is beautifully illustrated with foxgloves, climbing roses and turtle doves, and is filled with the most delicious truffles.

From classic Pink Marc de Champagne and milk sea salt caramel, to more contemporary Billionaires Shortbread truffles, Mum will feel special as she removes the bow from this decadent box of luxury chocolates. If you’re really lucky, she might even share.

Monty Bonjangles Sunset Samba collectable tin
£13

If you’re on a bit of a tight budget for Mother’s Day gifts this year, the new offering from Monty Bonjangles not only gives Mum some delicious chocolates to munch on, but also lets her embrace her inner crazy cat lady, with this colourful, collectable, Sunset Samba tin.

Once all the luxurious truffles are gone, the tin can go on to have another life, and, come birthdays and Christmas, perhaps be joined by other character-filled friends. Perfect for the crazy cat mums out there.

Cookware: the controversial option

Giving your mum cookware for Mother’s Day could be a genius move, or it could make you the gift-giving black sheep of the family – that’s one for you to judge. If, however, she loves to cook and bake, we have a couple of options that she’s bound to love. One word of advice, though — maybe cook her a beautiful meal in it as part of the gift for Mother’s Day. And then make sure you wash it up…

Perfect Pot from Our Place
£135

Everyone has a favourite pan. It’s that pan that works for everything from a stew or spag bol, to a pasta bake or braised steak. Perfect Pot from Our Place fills that favourite pan spot perfectly.

Available as a mini (2.4 litres) or standard (5.2 litres), the Perfect Pot comes with a domed lid that can trap steam if needed, or release it from the side vent when the lid is placed in the right position. From frying, baking, steaming and roasting, the Perfect Pot can do it all.

The ceramic nonstick coating makes it so easy to clean after cooking, and it doesn’t need harsh scrubbing, even if the food seems baked on.

It can be used on any hob type and can be transferred to the oven at temperatures up to 230°C for stovetop-to-oven recipes. The only thing to be aware of is that, since everything is metal, the handles get very hot, particularly when used in the oven. Sounds obvious, but it’s something to be aware of when lifting a loaded pan from the oven.

The best part, though, is just how lightweight it is, which makes it a brilliant option for everyday cooking.

Lakeland 8-in-1 Only Pan from Lakeland
£59

From frying to stir-frying, from sautéing to simmering, the Only Pan from Lakeland covers a lot of cooking bases. It even comes with a perfectly sized steaming basket (albeit not very deep), which can double as a little collider, too.

The 3.1-litre capacity and 26cm pan diameter mean it is a good size for family meals, and the non-stick ceramic coating makes it simple to cook with and clean up afterwards.

It is compatible with all types of hob, including induction, and although it did take a little time to heat fully due to its size, it worked well once up to temperature. The 8-in-1 Only Pan can be used in the oven, but only at a maximum temperature of 150°C, which is a little disappointing.

The pan’s non-stick coating means metal tools are a no-no, but Lakeland includes a silicone tool with the pan, which is a nice touch. It’s a great-looking pan that performs well, and Mum will love it.

Arts and crafts

Paint by Numbers from Hobbycraft
from £3

Mother’s Day is an excellent opportunity to let her creative side flourish. If she’s looking for something to help her unwind or to embrace a new hobby, painting can be a great therapeutic outlet. We aren’t all naturally gifted, but a paint-by-numbers kit can take away the feeling of lacking skill, while allowing all the enjoyment of creating the picture.

Far from being a project for preschoolers, paint-by-numbers kits range from reasonably simple to extremely complex, offering a wide range of subjects for all abilities.

They aren’t going to break the bank either, so for those working to a strict budget, Hobbycraft paint-by-numbers kits are a fabulously fun option this Mother’s Day.

Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet by Lego
£34

If you’re looking at flowers for Mother’s Day gifts, but thinking that they might not last very long, it’s time to consider a creative alternative instead. This gorgeous bouquet from Lego will not only give mums the joy of building the set (assuming they like a Lego creation, that is), but will also mean they have an everlasting bouquet of flowers to brighten up a dull space.

The kit contains 749 pieces and includes nine different types of blooms and foliage, which come together to make a fabulous display of colour. Once you get to grips with Lego’s simplistic image-based instructions, the build isn’t too challenging, making it an interesting project without being frustrating for any less experienced Lego building mums.

The Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet is a fun way to spend a few hours, and Mum can work on it while you pour her a glass of wine and cook her a glorious Mother’s Day lunch…you’ll be the favourite kid, for sure.
