With summer spreading out ahead of us like the open road, skincare brand Saltyface has curated a set of travel essentials that you can grab and go when the mood takes you. Set to launch in the UK on June 21st, the Saltyface Road Trip Kit will only be around for a limited time, but we managed to snag an early peek so we could tell you all about it.

What is Saltyface?

Saltyface is a clean beauty brand born in Vancouver, Canada, in 2020. The founders, husband-and-wife duo Bethany and David Menzel, set out to create skincare that helped people to feel confident and sunkissed all year round.

One of the most important elements for Saltyface is that its products use natural ingredients that nourish and care for the skin and produce a healthy, sun-kissed look with ease.

All of the products in Saltyface’s lineup are vegan and cruelty-free and are packaged in sustainable packaging.

What’s in the Road Trip Kit?

The Road Trip Kit is made up of two of the core products from the range – tanning moisturiser and freckle paint – along with a deck of cards for those fun and frivolous summer evenings with friends, and a Golden Hour hanging air freshener, scented beautifully with coconut and vanilla, to keep the summer feeling flowing, even in the car.

All of this is presented in a generously-sized quilted toiletries bag, which is perfect for throwing in everything you might need for a spontaneous summer trip, planned holiday, or a beach day.

The tanning moisturiser is infused with green tea and hyaluronic acid to keep the skin nourished and hydrated, while gradually creating a tanned look without the need for sun exposure

It does this by using the naturally occurring chemicals in organic sugar beet to interact with the amino acids in skin cells to create a pigment that temporarily stains the surface of the skin, giving the sun-bronzed look we all love. The darker you’d like your tan to be, the more regularly you apply the moisturiser.

What’s great about Saltyface’s tanning moisturiser is that it is easy to apply and absorbs quickly, leaving skin feeling soft and smooth and, so far at least, without any of the tell-tale streaks that can occur with fake tanning. It doesn’t have much of a fragrance, which is great for those with sensitivities, but I’d personally have loved a little bit of a scent – perhaps similar to the coconut and vanilla of the air freshener – to give more of that summer holiday vibe.

A word of warning, though. Do make sure to wash your hands after applying the moisturiser, or you could end up with mildly tanned fingers, too.

The other skin product in the set is the Saltyface Freckle Paint. If you’re not a fan of the flat, unblemished-looking facial tan, then you can add a few freckles quickly and easily.

With just the tiniest touch, you can add a little extra depth to your look. It’s quick-drying and very easy to wash off at the end of the day, which could mean that it will also wash off pretty quickly in the pool or the sea if you’re going swimming, but we’ve not tested that ourselves to find out.

Where is the Saltyface Road Trip Kit available to buy?

The Saltyface Road Trip Kit is a lovely set for your summer travels, keeping all your essentials in one place, with room for a few extras, too. And even if you aren’t so lucky with the weather, you can still keep that sun-kissed summer vibe alive.

It’s only going to be around for a limited time, though. Check out the Saltyface websiteExternal link, where it will be until August 31st, priced at £88.
