If you love retro styling, the Saucony Progrid Series, released as part of its spring/summer collection, should be on your trainer shopping list this season.
The campaign is entitled ‘Tomorrow, Meet Yesterday’ and features the return of iconic Saucony models, such as the Progrid Triumph 4, Progrid Omni 9, and Progrid Omni 9 Premium. Saucony has looked to the styling of its past to inform the design of its future — well, for this season, at least.

, is a unisex trainer that caters to all retro-style enthusiasts. It is available in a range of colours and sizes, and prices start at £135. It seamlessly fuses retro looks and a chunky feel with breathable mesh uppers and a recycled lining and footbed, making it a versatile choice for any wardrobe.
Enough about the concept, though; what about the trainers? Straight out of the box, they look and feel like a premium product. The finishing is excellent, with no rough edges or loose threads. The chunky soles enhance the retro styling and provide plenty of grip.
Slip your feet inside, and you’ll notice how comfortable the sole is. There is a good layer of padding to keep your feet cosseted all day long. There’s also plenty of cushioning around the opening and the heel, with no pressure points to cause discomfort.
If you are going to wear trainers during the height of summer, you want to know that things aren’t going to become too hot, sticky, and, after a while, stinky — the Progrid Omni 9 Premium has you covered there. The mesh upper allows lots of air to flow around the foot, keeping you dry and cool as the temperatures rise. This should also help to stop odour from building up too quickly, as dampness will dry out rather than fester and rapidly develop fragrant bacteria.
One minor downside is that the mesh upper panel will more easily allow fine dust and sand into the trainers should you find yourself in that type of environment, but that’s a small price to pay for having cool, comfortable feet. It could also mean that your feet become cooler in winter and possibly get damp more quickly than in other trainers.
