Life is much too short for dull skin. In a world where we want youthful, vibrant skin without harming the planet, The Clean Beauty Club delivers. I tried out a few products from the range to see if it left me with a rosy glow all around.

The Clean Beauty Club was founded by Emma and Aminah, two entrepreneurs who wanted to make a joyful impact on the world of skincare. They set out to create something that worked as well for the skincare minimalist as for the home facial enthusiast. That’s one of the great strengths of the product range — while you can use several together in your skincare regime, you could just as easily pick one you love and use that as a standalone product.

What’s in The Clean Beauty Club products?

Every product is plant-based and sustainably made, so they’re suitable for all skin types. The list of ingredients includes extracts and essences, oils and vitamins, but absolutely nothing harsh or nasty.

Everything has been rigorously tested to ensure it passes all UK safety standards, so you can have complete peace of mind as you buff, oil and mist your skin.

My experience with The Clean Beauty Club products
Wonder Balm

I tried out a handful of products, starting with the Wonder Balm. My first impression when I opened the tin was that it reminded me of lip balm, but a little softer. I have to admit that I was a little sceptical, but I scooped out a pea-sized blob and began to rub it between my fingers. As the balm warmed with the heat from my hands, it melted, and I could spread it easily over my face and massage it into my skin.

The Clean Beauty Club Wonder Balm

I was surprised by just how far that small amount went. Having massaged the faintly citrus-smelling balm well into my skin, I set about wiping off what hadn’t been absorbed using a well-wrung-out face cloth. The immediate result was actually pretty impressive. My skin felt soft and supple even after the first use.

The Mist and Glow Serum

I decided to go for the full facial, and gave my face and neck a good misting with Orange Flower Mist. This orange flower-infused water smelled amazing as it settled into my skin. Once it was dry, I finished the routine with a few drops of Glow Serum (there’s a Beauty Sleep serum for your evening routine, too), which is infused with what the Clean Beauty Club describes as ‘nature’s botox’.

Glow Serum is supposed to help soften the face and reduce fine lines, helping to restore the natural glow of the skin. I massaged a few drops into my skin and was pleasantly surprised by the lack of oiliness that remained after such a short time, leaving the skin ready for applying makeup.

Wonder Mask

The next product I tried a few days later was the Wonder Mask. Having loved the Wonder Balm, I had high hopes for this one. Being a mask, the texture is very different to the other products in the range. I scooped out some of the brown gloop and started to apply it to my clean, dry skin. I wasn’t really sure how much to apply — the direction of “an even layer” was a little ambiguous, so I just kept spreading until my skin was completely covered with a thin layer.

I wasn’t overly fond of the smell of the Wonder Mask. It didn’t have the mild tangs of citrus or orange like most of the other products I’d tried. Instead, it reminded me of Plasticine, which was unexpected and not particularly pleasant.

Once it was on my skin, the Wonder Mask felt quite nice, and unlike many face masks, it didn’t dry out and crack or feel restrictive. After about 15 minutes and a few minutes of massaging with damp fingers to exfoliate the skin, I started the laborious process of removing it.

It was a messy job! Once the mask was made wetter with the damp face cloth, it seemed more waxy and took a little effort to wash it completely from my skin. It took even longer to wash it all out of the face cloth — I definitely don’t recommend using a white one.

Despite my misgivings, my skin did feel nice afterwards. I’ll try a thinner layer next time, and hopefully that will still give a nice result, but with a little less mess.

The Clean Beauty Club: the verdict

I might not have been the biggest fan of all the products — the Wonder Mask didn’t quite hit the same mark as others in the range — but The Clean Beauty Club does have some lovely options that leave skin feeling fresh and hydrated, without breaking the bank. I was genuinely impressed by how little Wonder Balm it took to cleanse my face, and how lovely my skin felt after the first use. Making it a part of my daily routine would be easy, and with a small tin costing just £14.50, not super expensive, either.

If you’re looking to change up your skincare routine with something ethical, effective and easy to use, then try The Clean Beauty Club. Start with the £55 bundle  — it includes Wonder Balm, the face mist and a day and night serum to give you a feel for the range. I’m sure you won’t regret it, and your skin will most definitely thank you for it.
